Standing in for a rabbit's foot
Niki and I went to Hooters last night for a little gambling. I sat next to a guy at the Pai Gow table who had about $1500 in chips (apparently down from $3000). He was betting $250-500 most of the time and as much as $1000 several times. According to him, he was a professional gambler and bet about $20,000 a day on sports.
I started with $60 and eventually ran out of money. By the time I ran out of money, the guy was up to about $2500. I stood and watched for a few hands while his stack climbed to $3600. When I started to walk away, he asked where I was going and asked me to sit and play a while longer. I guess he thought I was his lucky charm because he gave me a black chip to play with when I told him I was out of money. Score!
I felt kinda bad when he lost $2900 within a short time of me rejoining the game but the feeling passed. I take comfort in the fact that he would have made $1000 if he had taken my advice on a hand. He cashed out with $700 and I took the money and ran as soon as he was out of sight.

I want to plan to come to Vegas sometime in the next month. I've only been there once this year, so I am a little overdue.
The hotels are kind of expensive for the weekends I am looking it. I am also going to weigh flight options vs. driving there.

Unfortunately my bankroll is not up to $20,000 a day yet, but I'm working on it.
Too bad that guy didn't keep winning big after you sat back down, he might have tipped you a pink chip.
The biggest tip I received for winning a player money was $2 at a craps table. After the tip I promptly rolled a 7 and it was all down hill from there.

As alway, we offer free lodging and can provide airport shuttle service if you decide to fly.

Thanks man, I am considering all options.
Dan, if the guy gave you a $100 tip at the craps table, you would have lost the money in 5 minutes, according to your story, which only I find funny...I think

It would be funny to me if it didn't bring back painful memories of my first craps experience (in which I did the same thing). Maybe I will be able to laugh about it some day but the wound is still fresh (approx. 8 years later).
