Rock Band first impressions

On most features where Rock Band can be compared directly (playing guitar, graphics, interface, etc) to Guitar Hero, I have to give a slight edge to Guitar Hero. It is the differences, however, that make it worth every penny.
Guitar:
- RB is less forgiving on timing so you have to hit notes at exactly the right moment.
- The star power activator is much more sensitive so you can't have the neck elevated AT ALL or star power will begin as soon as your meter meets the minimum requirement.
- I still don't like the action on the strum bar but I'm getting used to it.
Graphics:
- They go for a more realistic, less cartoonish appearance which is fine but they also give it a gritty, low-quality film type look that I don't care for.
Interface:
- Each successive incarnation of GH has taken steps to streamline the interface and it has become quite comfortable and easy to navigate. RB seems to be a step backwards. This is a minor gripe but it is noticeable (to me anyway).
Set List:
- This is pretty much a matter of personal taste. I'd say I like the selection on GH a little more but RB has more songs (than GH3 anyway) and better downloadable content*. And RB is the only way to play Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld!
Drums:
- Playing the drums kicks ass!
- Construction quality is good overall but the foot pedal worries me.
- The drum set is comfortable to play but I have a lot of trouble playing the foot pedal. I think this has more to do with the size of my foot than anything else. I'm working on a retro-fit to alleviate the situation.
- I can't wait to play Run to the Hills!
Microphone:
- We have yet to rock the mic.

*Note: For those currently using a PS2, I strongly recommend waiting on Rock Band until you upgrade your console. The downloadable songs (only on Xbox 360 and PS3) really make this game.
