Career Opportunities

I have been selected to take a much sought after position at McCarran Airport (still working for Xerox). From the field of employees, management chose me and one other employee to be evaluated by an analyst to determine who had the necessary skills and aptitude. I got word this morning that the position is mine for the taking.
I will be in charge of minor maintenance/supplies for a small fleet of copiers but my main responsibility will be Docushare administration. Docushare is a server based digital archival solution that lets users store, share, update, and manage documents in a secure environment. McCarran is the largest Docushare user in the country so I'm kind of being thrown to the wolves.
I'm guessing this will be a lateral move as far as compensation is concerned. The important thing to me is that it adjusts my career trajectory in the direction I want to go. I have been trying to shift towards IT for a long time and this might be just the break I need. As an added bonus, my commute will be shorter so I will save a lot on gas.
