R.I.P. TV
Our 51" TV has kicked the bucket. I had been watching Kingpin and stepped away for minute. When I came back, Niki asked me if Kingpin was being broadcast in 3D. The red CRT jumped way out of position and won't budge.
I have been told that projection TVs have a pretty short life span in the desert so this doesn't come as a huge surprise. Unfortunately, I had hoped to be in a better financial position when it happened. I plan to buy an LCD (Sharp or Samsung) of approximately the same size in the future but it will be a while. It will take at least a few months to pay off the Circuit City or Best Buy cards so we can get 0% interest.
In the mean time, I guess we will just have to move the 27" LCD out of the bedroom and scoot the couch closer.

Get the exact same TV that Mark bought.

No way. LCD is higher quality and lower maintenance. DLP requires periodic replacement of lamps which can be quite pricy. Also, Mark's TV is way too big for my house. 50-52" is a perfect fit for my TV nook and the optimal size for viewing from my couch.

I know. I figured you'd go for another choice. It would be too big for my place too.
I am unfamiliar with maintenance issues regarding Mark's new TV, but visually speaking it's sweet.

I can't fault Mark too much for his purchase. He got a good deal on a TV that will be great for someone who watches nothing but sports and Dora the Explorer. I am more finicky about A/V stuff so it's not for me.
