Sunshine

Check out the trailer for the upcoming movie Sunshine. It looks very cool. Cilian Murphy, who is one of my favorite new actors, stars in it. He was great as the Scarecrow in Batman Begins and in the stellar 28 Days Later.

I always love these apocalyptic-against-all-odds-last-ditch-hail-Mary-attempt-to-save-humanity-from-extinction-with-some-fantastic-machine-totally-outside-our-technological-grasp movies. They are cheesy, formulaic, scientifically vacuous, and all the other things that I hate in movies but they are just damned entertaining.

In related news, 28 Weeks Later (sequel to 28 Days Later) is in post production. Cilian Murphy is not in this one but, coincidentally, one of his co-stars from Sunshine (Rose Byrne) is. I have a bad feeling about this one.
