Roll the Bones

Niki and I did a lot of gambling while her parents were visiting. There were highs and lows but, overall, we were a few hundies in the hole. Last night, after a disappointing session at Hooters, we were about to call it a weekend and go home with out tails between our legs.
On the way to the casino cage, Niki's eye was caught by the craps table so she decided to give it one last go. Craps is not normally my game but I didn't feel like watching from the sidelines so I joined in. My $40 quickly turned into $24 after Niki crapped out and I was about to cash out when I was offered the dice. I couldn't pass up a chance to throw and the thought of losing $24 at this point didn't really bother me. I proceeded to roll for what had to be at least 20 minutes hitting every hard way as I went. Each of us ended up walking away with over $200.
I love winning back a weekend's worth of losses in the last few minutes. It's kinda like "make-up sex". Getting there is rough but the happy ending makes you forget about the rest.

HAHA what a great analogy! Now you know why I play craps, caribbean stud, and 3 card. Even though it's tough to win, there is the chance that one could have a good pay day in a very short period of time.

I have always known why you do it. I just don't agree with it. I'm a bit to pragmatic to choose an adrenaline rush over odds.

You actually have pretty good odds playing craps, but you need a pretty big bank roll to make it through the losing streaks.
If you play the basic pass/no pass the house edge is only about 1.4%. It gets worse when you place your come bet, bumps the house edge up to 4.75%. Then you can get silly and play the field 5.5%, or just plain stupid and play the 1 roll bets which gives the house a nifty 16% edge. It all depends on how you play it. I've only won a considerable amount of money 1 time, so I've lost the thrill.

Dan, you are really good at losing $100 in what, 5 minutes? I love hearing that story. I have placed the come bet so that I am playing 2 or 3 numbers instead of just the 1 number. However, I should probably just play 6 and 8 like most people. The only good thing about the come bet is if the shooter rolls a 7, you win on that bet.

You are right Dan. Your odds aren't that bad of you only play the pass/dont pass. But who does that? And I never have the bank roll to ride out the losing streaks. I play very conservatively now that I am a local.
