Format Wars update

The CEO of Sony says the HD-DVD/Blu-ray struggle for dominance is at a stalemate now that Paramount has switched to HD-DVD exclusivity. Sony tends to talk a big game so an admission of stalemate from them translates to loss to the rest of world (my own interpretation).
Another factor is the cost of equipment. 90,000 HD-DVD players were sold in just a few days last week when a price battle between stores caused prices to drop below $200. Prices are back up now but you can bet we'll see more of that going on as we approach Xmas. Blu-ray players are still much more expensive.
Sony's market share of players only looks good if they count PS3s which don't have as good an attachment rate. (Translation: Owners of HD-DVD players are much more likely to buy movies than Blu-ray owners) Things are not looking good for Blu-ray.
We won't even get into the porn factor.
