That lightning shot is awesome! I wish I could take more pictures of lightning around here, since we do have lots of it, but there's a couple of problems. When it's storming around here and the lightning is photographable, it's usually also raining. A lot. The camera doesn't like that. Plus, since it's flat around here, it's easy to get struck by lightning when you've got a camera mounted on a big metal tripod. I've never been a fan of that.

Yes, I get the impression that being struck by lightning can be spectacularly disagreable. I avoid this by using a carbon fiber tripod and the strategic use of overhangs. But I feel your pain. Since moving to Vegas, even though lightning is common here, I have been unable to find situation conducive to photography.
