R.I.P. HD-DVD

Toshiba has raised the white flag conceding the format war to Blu-ray. Behold, we are witness to the shifting tide of electronic entertainment. The power of choice has been snatched from the consumer and handed over to powerful corporate interests. The battle was not won because more of one format was sold or had better technology but, instead, because movie studios saw their interests being better protected by one format. This is not good for consumers and I see it as a very disturbing glimpse at what is to come.
