McCormick & Schmick

McCormick & Schmick had a tax relief promotion on tax day that featured drink specials and a menu of items priced at $10.40. Regular entree prices around $20-30 have kept us from trying it until now so we jumped on the opportunity to sample their food without breaking the bank. Here's a rundown of what we tried:

Ginger Vodka Mojito - made with vodka that they infuse (in house) with ginger instead of rum. It was refreshing and very tasty. Highly recommended
Sourdough Bread - toasted and not as fresh as I'd like but some of the tangiest sourdough I've had.
Pecan Crusted Catfish - light and flakey with a nice understated pecan breading and spicy roumelade. Roumelade isn't my thing but Niki really liked it. Catfish is always a gamble but this was top notch. The blanched vegetable and buttery mashed potatos on the side were perfect.
Seafood Linguini - shrimp and bay scallops in a rich cream sauce over fresh linguini. Dishes like this often require rationing the seafood so you still have some by the time you finish the pasta.... not here. The perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops were so abundant that I was rationing the pasta.
Creme Brulee - served in a shallow ramekin to maximize ratio of carmelized sugar crust to custard and covered in a generous helping of berries. Very good.

We were very impressed with McCormick & Schmick. A lot of restaurants would have skimped on the portions or quality on a reduced-price menu but not this one. Everything was of the highest quality and the flavors were great. We will definitely be returning.
