Panera Bread

After years of curiosity, we finally tried Panera Bread. There is one about a block from our apartment so it just seemed like a good idea. I don't know what took us so long.
I tried the 1/2 sandwich and soup deal with the Italian Combo Sandwich (roast beef, smoked turkey, ham, salami, Swiss cheese, peperoncini, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions on ciabatta) and French Onion Soup. Of course I skipped the special sauce on the sandwich and opted for the balsamic vinaigrette instead. Niki tried the Chicken Caesar Sandwich. We both got a chocolate chip cookie as well.
Everything was extremely good. All the ingredients (esp. bread) were very fresh and had good flavor. I'm a big fan of French Onion soup and this was some of best I've had. The cookies were far better than I have come to expect from a fast food counter and reminiscent of Mrs. Fields.
If you haven't yet tried Panera Bread, I strongly suggest you waste no more time. I was very impressed and expect to be a frequent customer.

I havent been to Panera, but there is one near me. There is a place called The Corner Bakery that I like. It might be similar to Panera.

I love a turkey sandwich on ciabatta bread so I'll have to try that if they have it.

As for cookies, nothing can beat a good one at Subway!
