Goodbye Fender

I wasn't planning on buying an amp just yet but I found an offer I couldn't pass up. It's a Crate GLX212 that was marked down to $250 plus $10 shipping. Most places are selling it for $450-500. I was also able to pay in 3 installments (very important cuz I have already spent way too much this month). It sounded too good to be true but the retailer is reputable.
It has 2 12" speakers powered by a 120 watt amplifier, 3 channels, 16 effects, and all the bells and whistles. The specs don't mention it but I have heard it comes with a 3 button pedal for controlling the effects too. I'm guessing this is an older model that is getting cleared out but thats fine by me. Is this the one you have Dan? I had my eye on a Line 6 with similar specs but cost $400.
The Fender was getting on my nerves. It produces a nasty hiss even at low volume and jumps in and out of distortion mode at will. I was just going to grit my teeth and bear it for a while but this deal was too good to pass up.

I think I have the 65 watt. Regardless it's more then enough for playing in a bedroom. I never have the opportunity to turn my amp past 2 anyway so the extra power is kind of needless. The rumors are true, it comes with a pedal, which is kick ass for switching between clean, distortion and the effects. You can get some really good sounds from the effects which will help the song sound more like the original. Or if you suck it will help cover up all your mistakes and sloppy play. It's going to be missing 2 things that your Fender had. A headphone jack and a second guitar input. I really liked the headphone jack since sometimes I wanted to just play really loud and I was able to accomplish that without anyone else hearing. With this new amp your getting, it's going to be very easy to disturb the neighbors, which is what playing guitar is all about. So overall you made a very good purchase.

Dammit! I just assumed they all had headphone output. Anyway, I'm not real concerned about the second guitar input. I always have the Fender if somebody comes over to jam. I realize 120 watts is a rediculous amount of power for me but, because of the markdown, it isn't really costing me any more than a less powerful model. BTW, I knew it was the amp for me when I read this in a review: "It has incredible low end and palm muting on the rhythm channel at 6 is enough to make my drummer complain about testicular vibrations."

Another thing I like about it is it had an output for a cab so I can use it as a head if I get really crazy.

That's probably one of the best reviews I have read. 120 watts is plenty of power to drown Gary out when we start our tour.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind. Hey, I have an idea for title for our reunion tour... The Testicles Vibrating In Unison Tour!

I've always liked the name Currently Not Touring. That way our press release could be "Currently Not Touring currently on tour", or "Currently touring: Currently Not Touring"

I think a good band name would be Uranus. That way, when some guy is having a casual conversation with a woman and says "I want to see Uranus" or "I like Uranus", he might get slapped. That would make it all worth it.
Or we could call ourselves Ю a.k.a The Artists Formerly Known as Monkeywrench

That's not going to work. If we name our band Uranus, I guarantee no one will ever say "I like Uranus" That theory is shot.

Are you trying to say nobody will like us (or be afraid to admit that they like us) or that people are smart enough to not say "I like Uranus"? I'm with you on the former but you would be greatly overestimating people if you mean the latter.

Oh I'm clearly stating that no one will like us

There's a name for our band... No One Will Like Us!

That's not a name, that's a prediction. A very good prediction.
