A world of difference

I absolutely love the new Crate. The sound is so much better than the Fender in every way. It's nice to be able to turn on a light in the room or plug in my laptop without introducing a nasty buzz. It'll take a while to figure out all the controls completely but I was able to get a tone I loved a couple minutes out of the box. The foot switch rules too.
I think I'm making good progress on the guitar. I have added the beginning of Smoke on the Water to my repertoire. It's really hard to pick just the middle two strings but I pull it off once in a while. I have also been doing a terrible injustice to the first few notes of Silent Lucidity. It sounds awful and eats at my soul but I keep trying because I think it is excellent practice for my rhythm and picking skills.

I have never actually tried to play Silent Lucidity before, and I'm not sure why? Probably because I only have the book for Mindcrime, and I usually hate pulling tab from the internet. Aaron now knows 1 song that I don't. I suppose when we cover that during our show it will be a chance for me to relax backstage. Your amp probably already makes you sound better even though you are playing the same. I have to give you credit, your probably going to stick to this longer then I predicted.

No, no, no. I know a few notes of a song that you don't. Big difference. I think you could look at the tab and play it better the first time.
You are right about me sounding better with the Crate. I think I can skip a week of practice just because of the instantaneous improvement.
Thanks for the vote of confidence though. It's good to know you had already predicted my failure. I'm going to prove you wrong though. My fingers have already toughened up a bit so it's too late to turn back now.

I have a Crate also, although I don't know if it still works because it hasnt been used in a few years and it was subject to weather conditions when it sat outside my apartment for a year.

If I were to play again, I would probably buy a new amp.

Why on earth would you leave an amp outside for a year, even if you don't use is?

Oh boy Gary, you would be the worst roadie ever.

He flushed away any hopes of being a roadie when he complained about tuning a 4 string hardtail. This is just icing on the cake. About the only spot left for him in the band is tour manager. Actually, he can't do that either... He'd have us staying at the Excalibur every time we play Vegas.

I didn't have much room in my apartment for it. It's a bigger size amp than a beginner. I couldn't place it in my apartment closet because it wasn't big enough and I didn't feel like putting it in the main room of the apartment. Remember, I had a 650 square foot studio apartment.

haha I wouldn't make anyone stay at Excalibur, but if I am making reservations then that would be my #1 choice. It's the best hotel/casino for the price imo and I like the gambling there. I love The Flamingo too. Aaron, I will have to show you the "Weird" craps table at Flamingo when I am in Vegas in 2 weeks.
