420 IS A RETARD HOLIDAY!!!

I just really want to strangle people for declaring today a holiday. Anyone who decides to celebrate getting high, is just freaking retarded and need to be smited! You know I don't care if people smoke pot, to each his own. But when you act like a complete idiot everyday of your life, it gets old real quick. I would take the same stance on a person who had to take a drink everyday and acted like a moron. At least there isn't a day where idiot people decide to celebrate drinking!

Almost there!
Just a day and half until I begin my third week of vacation in 3 years! I almost wish I could just stay home and vegetate for the entire week. Vegas should be fun though. We have to be serious for a few hours a day while we look at houses but our nights are free to spend as we choose. I am very excited that the casino we are staying at (Stratosphere) features a Fat Tuesday! I can already taste the 190 Octane. Mmmmm.... Everclear.

So this has been quite an uneventful day! We must all be doing work. And by "we" I mean you guys. Because as some of you know, I do even less work than Dan. This blog should be called "We are going to pick on Dan"! LOL He seems to be the target of a lot. He should be used to it though, he is a goalie after all...
Since it's Wednesday now, anyone have any big plans for the weekend? I'm sure we will be riding bikes at some point this weekend just to get out of the house. We are going to have a house full of guests again this weekend. No big deal though...we leave for Vegas on next Wednesday to go and look at houses. That is going to be so much fun.
Any thoughts?

THE LA KINGS HAVE FIRED DAVE TAYLOR

Just as I predicted, the Kings have fired general manager Dave Taylor. That's the first step in a overhaul of the roster. With Luc Robitaille unfortunately retiring, the unlikely event that Jeremy Roenick will be re-signed, the probable trade of Sean Avery this summer, and no solid up and coming players on the minor league team, the Kings are in state of flux and we haven't even talked about a new coaching staff.

Poking Dan with a sharp stick!
Since you are a republican, I can guess your stance on global warming. Republicans sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting "BLAH BLAH BLAH I can't hear you!" isn't going to get us anywhere. If you want to adopt republican political ideology, that's your own business but science is my turf. The republican war on science will get us all killed if something isn't done. Ignoring everything that the brightest minds on our planet tell them (about global warming, evolution, depleted uranium, pollution, ecology, etc.) just because it doesn't fit their political, religious, or financial agenda is suicide! Yeah, I know, they found some crackpot "scientist" who tells us there is no need to worry about _________, but in every scenario, they have ignored the vast majority when it suited them.

Global warming is a reality. There is no denying that it is happening BUT there is also no proof that we have caused it. Climate change is a fact of nature and quite evident throughout earths history. It is entirely possible that global warming would be taking place whether humans were here or not. However, there is ample evidence that the byproducts of civilization (not the least of which being fossil fuel emissions) have the capacity to create or accelerate warming. The problem is, we can't afford to wait and see what happens. By the time we figure it out, it will be too late.

The good news is, there's a solution. Hydrogen! It's the most abundant element in the universe so we aren't going to run out any time soon. The only byproduct from burning it is.... water. It's cheap to process and very efficient. No more dependence on foreign powers, no more oil spills, no more destroying animal sanctuaries, no more price gouging, no more peak oil worries, no more global warming... all in one little atom. BMW makes cars that run on it. Germany has started building the infrastructure of H stations.

So many problems solved with such ease! But we have to start now. It will take time to build the infrastructure. It will take time for Americans to replace their current vehicles. Nobody is going to make the change over night. It's an expensive change but very doable if we start now and rebuild the system little by little. It's a change we have to make eventually even if you ignore global warming. So why haven't we started yet?

You can argue with what I have said if you want but I have the scientists of the world behind me. Who are you going to trust? Them... or politician?

I just read something that made me very angry.

Average Americans are struggling to keep up with persistently high gas prices, now approaching $3 a gallon. Testifying before Congress last November, Exxon CEO Lee Raymond blamed the problem on"global supply and demand" and assured the public that"we're all in this together."Last year, Raymond made due with"a total compensation package" of just $69.7 million or $190,915 a day, including weekends.

Exxon is giving Lee Raymond one of the most generous retirement packages in history, nearly $400 million, including pension, stock options and other perks, such as a $1 million consulting deal, two years of home security, personal security, a car and driver, and use of a corporate jet for professional purposes.

Stupid is as stupid does.
After a run-in with one of the intellectually challenged here at work today, I was reminded of one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. As most of you know, my memory is terrible and I am lucky if I remember yesterday, but I shall never forget this!
I was playing blackjack and and the dealer misdealt his own hand revealing an 18. After consulting the pit boss, the dealer was instructed to continue with the hand. This obviously gave the advantage to us players because we knew exactly what we had to beat. The two young women at the end of the table proceeded to complain to the deal and then to the pit boss that this was somehow unfair. The rest of us tried to explain to them that it was a good thing but this was beyond their comprehension. I know... you're thinking "That's pretty stupid!", but wait... it gets worse! Despite their protests, the hand was allowed to be played as usual. One of women stood on a 17! It makes my brain hurt just thinking about it.

30 or Bust!
For those who haven't read it yet, check out Gary's latest journal entry. I want to play in the 30 and Over league so bad I can taste it. Think they will accept somebody who is 29 1/2? I would jump at the chance to play on Gary's team and it sounds like they can use all the help they can get!

The Conspicuous Absence of Browes
So... where the hell are Mark and Catherine? There is a void at M.O.A.T. that can only be filled by Browes. Could it be.... blog envy?!?!?
Anyway, anybody have any big Easter plans? We have none whatsoever and I plan to keep it that way. Maybe we will go on a bike ride. Or a bunny hunt. I will look for the one carrying eggs and steal his candy! We have alot of DVDs to catch up on so maybe we will have a lazy movie day.

HOCKEY!

Oilers made the playoffs!! Whooo! :)

Does anyone want to do a fantasy hockey league for the playoffs? If so, let's figure out when to do this..we have a short window after the season and before the playoffs.

Rina:)

First Ever M.O.A.T. Caption Contest
I thought this would be fun so I am offering myself up as the sacrificial lamb to get the ball rolling. Winner gets... well... nothing.

Choc Doctor?
I propose we start up the Nationals tradition again while we are not playing. It doesn't have to be Nationals of course but something central. Thoughts?

Welcome Troopers,
family, and friends. This is just a lil summin' summin' I put together to help keep us in touch while we are not playing and, also, to relieve some of the congestion on Gary's journal. We'll see how it goes.
